... before I came here, I didn't get to talk to people a lot. I didn't really have friends, so...

[ Sometimes I laugh at the fact that Naminé is friends with Minato because she honestly just doesn't know any better, somebody help her ]

Me neither... [ For, like, all those things. Never really talking with anybody, not having friends. Unlike with Naminé, it was by choice, and it's a choice he'd hung onto for so long here too. ]

I think I'm a little happier here, than I was before. It feels kind of like a second chance.

Yeah, I don't plan to. I won't be going home with this is all over, so I want to enjoy my time here while I can.

I wonder if that'll be allowed...? I'm going to die when I go home, so I sort of thought that was it. No matter what, I'm not going to exist for very long.

[ she's still not sure what to say here. ]

I stopped existing before I came here. I sort of... merged with someone else.

[ which is why, during that very first weekend, she was asking people if they could see her because she was confused ]

[ she doesn't think it is, but if it's the easiest way to explain. ]

... is there any way for that to not happen to you?

No, I don't think so... The last thing I remember is pulling a trigger. That gives everybody maybe three months. If I could go back and stop that from happening...

[ Which could still happen? He pulled the trigger, but he hasn't killed, yet. ]

I probably won't survive the month. It's kind of a mess... I don't know what else I can do.

... maybe you can ask Lune or Sol about it? We're helping shape the universe by defeating corruption, right? Maybe we can do something about what's happening back home for you.

[ she's not sure, but...

what she is sure about is that she doesn't want minato to die. ]

[ ...Minato smiles a little, but it's thin and doesn't quite reach his eyes. ]

I want to help just to help. I don't need anything in return, and don't expect it.

[ she's going to start tugging him towards where the benches are. ]

[ His world is doomed, it's okay. He goes ahead and follows after her. ]

but once they're at a bench, she is just going to climb onto it so she can kiss minato on the forehead. because he is too tall for her to do it otherwise. ]

[ He's accepted it, it's fine!!

But also, oh... the kiss was unexpected, but the smile on his face becomes something warmer, and he has to sit up a little straighter out of his slouch to kiss her back on the cheek because that's all he can reach. ]

[ naminé smiles back. she has no idea how to really address any of this, or how to make minato feel better, but... at the very least she can show him affection, and that she cares. if she can't do anything else, there's that.

she climbs back down after that, since knowing them she'll probably trip otherwise and break her neck. ]

Let's do our best while we're here.

[ It's more than anything anybody else has shown him, accepting the futility of his situation with him and making the best of it, instead of caring and scolding him in the same breath like he'd come to expect from most anybody else.

This is why Naminé is his best friend in this place, and why he takes her hand again to have her sit next to him, so he has somebody to lean on both literally and figuratively. ]

Yeah. We'll work hard so people can be happy again. Make the most out of our time here, and live without regrets.

[ listen she still wants him to change his mind about asking the hosts, but she doesn't want to force him to make that decision.

[ Minato wouldn't even go to the hosts to ask about fixing his everything, even after even after he's been asked to, and the world is so much bigger than that. ]

Doesn't it? [ It sounds... impossible. But nice. ] Do you have any? Maybe we can fix things, little by little.

I did some not that great things back home, so I was doing my best to make up for them before I came here.
